Fire investigators in Prichard are working to determine what started a late-night fire at a building on St. Stephens Road.

The blaze was reported around 10:30 Friday night in the 2300 block of St. Stephens Road, near Rodgers BBQ. An official at the scene said it appeared someone had set a tire on fire in the doorway of the vacant side of the building, possibly igniting the structure.

The building appeared to be available for rent and unoccupied at the time. No injuries were reported.

Authorities in Prichard continue to investigate the cause of the fire. Anyone with information is asked to contact Prichard police or fire officials.
