Alabama Senate candidates were set to square off in a live radio debate Tuesday, June 30, at noon, hosted by the Common Sense Campaign of South Alabama in conjunction with FM Talk 106.5.
The hour-long forum aired live on the station’s Midday Mobile program, moderated by host Sean Sullivan. Dr. Lou Campomenosi of the Common Sense Campaign joined Robert Kennedy Jr. in posing questions to the candidates.
Organizers made audience participation a centerpiece of the format, inviting listeners to call or text their questions in for consideration during the broadcast — an unusually direct line from voters to candidates for a Senate forum.
The debate landed in the middle of a pivotal election year in Alabama, giving South Alabama voters one of their few chances to hear Senate hopefuls answer unscripted questions on live local radio rather than in staged campaign appearances.
