Juno Award-winning Canadian blues artist Rita Chiarelli returned to Mobile in November 2012 to present her documentary Music of the Big House alongside live performance at Catt’s Avalon 360.
Film and Song From Angola Prison
The film documents Chiarelli’s work inside Louisiana’s Angola Prison, where she recorded with incarcerated musicians. Earlier in 2012, she attended Crescent Theater showings of the documentary during a Mobile visit; the Avalon 360 engagement extended that connection with evening performances.
Showtimes ran November 21, 23 and 24, with the film at 6 p.m. followed by a live performance at 8:05 p.m. Tickets were $20, or $12 for members.
