Yellow police tape stretched across a street scene at nightPolice say a man turned himself in after a shooting outside a Mobile bar wounded an employee

The man police say shot through the door of a Mobile bar and wounded an employee is now in custody after surrendering to authorities.

According to the Mobile Police Department, 22-year-old Elijah McCarty turned himself in at the Mobile County Metro Jail on Monday. Investigators had identified McCarty as a suspect in a July 15 shooting that sent one bar worker to the hospital with a gunshot wound.

Officers were called to the Bubble Lounge around 3 a.m. that Friday on a report of shots fired. Police said a man had been refused entry to the bar, and moments later he fired shots into a door, striking the employee.

The investigation remains active as prosecutors weigh formal charges connected to the early-morning shooting.
