More than four decades after her body was pulled from a creek south of Grand Bay, a murder victim remains unidentified and her killer has never been caught.
In May 1976, two boys fishing in a creek off Potter Tract Road discovered a woman’s body floating face down. She had been shot in the back of the head, her dentures had been removed and her hands had been cut off. She appeared to be in her 50s or early 60s.
She was never identified, and no one was ever arrested. A suspect emerged nearly 20 years later after a similar crime was discovered nearby, but the case remains open.
Investigators continue to seek answers in the cold case.
