The Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce announced its 2026-27 Chamber Ambassadors on Sept. 10, naming 14 juniors and seniors from Atmore-area high schools.

What the Program Does
Over the course of the year, ambassadors will have the opportunity to learn more about the community, connect with local businesses and leaders, and discover new ways to serve, according to chamber officials.
Programs like this one are built around access rather than instruction. A high school junior in a town the size of Atmore can grow up without ever meeting the people who run its employers, its banks, its government or its hospital. A chamber ambassador program puts those introductions on a calendar.
Why Chambers Run Youth Programs
The business case is not subtle. Small cities across south Alabama lose a substantial share of each graduating class to larger metros, and the ones who leave are frequently the students with the most options.
A chamber that spends a year showing juniors and seniors what careers exist at home — and introducing them to the people who do that hiring — is making an argument about staying, or about coming back after college.
Whether it works is measured over a decade, not a year. The students named this week will make those decisions in 2028 and beyond.
