A man accused of hiding inside a stranger’s Mobile home on Christmas Day and sexually assaulting the woman who lived there appeared in court by video from jail Tuesday, and all charges in the case were bound over to a grand jury, according to court documents.
Todd Overstreet faces 13 charges in Mobile County, including sexual abuse, sodomy, and burglary. Police say he broke into the woman’s home on Christmas Day and attacked her; authorities said he was a stranger to the victim.
Overstreet then spent nearly three weeks on the run, at one point topping Mobile’s most wanted list, before officers took him into custody following an extensive manhunt.
The case now heads to a Mobile County grand jury, which will determine whether to indict. Charges described here are allegations, and Overstreet has not been tried on them.
