Downtown Fairhope Alabama

A Historical Tour of Fairhope, Alabama

James Bullard, June 25, 2008

A WKRG Hometown Tour explored Fairhope’s origin story, its setting on Mobile Bay and the character of its downtown.

The report recounted that Fairhope’s founders organized in Des Moines, Iowa, before choosing a site on the bluffs of Mobile Bay. It described the community’s single-tax-colony roots, waterfront parks, public art, flowers, galleries, shops and annual arts festival.

This is a historical summary of a local feature. Details may have changed.
