A man was taken to the hospital Saturday morning after Mobile police say he was struck with a hammer by a woman he knew, in a case investigators are treating as domestic violence.
According to a Mobile Police Department news release, officers were called to the 1700 block of Butler Street just after 1:30 a.m. Saturday in reference to an assault. When officers arrived, they found a man with non-life-threatening injuries, who was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
During the investigation, the man told officers that a woman he knew had struck him with a hammer during the encounter. Police say the woman, who has not been publicly identified, faces charges of second-degree domestic violence and second-degree assault.
The investigation remains active, and no arrests had been announced as of Monday. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Mobile Police Department.
