Mobile police said they investigated a fatal shooting at a car wash on Airport Boulevard near Beltline Service Road on April 26, 2008.

According to the report, officers responding that Saturday afternoon found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Investigators said at the time that an argument involving a worker at a shoeshine stand and two men near the gas pumps preceded the shooting. Police alleged that the worker went to a vehicle, returned with a gun and shot a passenger in the other vehicle.

Police said a suspect had been booked following the investigation and cautioned that he might have used other names. This archived report reflects what authorities said at the time; it does not document subsequent proceedings or disposition of the case.
