A Mobile man marked his 82nd birthday by inviting two World War II veterans to celebrate with him.

Freddy Sigler, a lifelong Mobile resident, hosted the honorees at the corner of Congress and Lexington streets, the spot where his family’s home once stood before Hurricane Frederick destroyed it. His son, Norman, said Sigler now uses the lot as a makeshift community gathering place.

Among the veterans who joined him was John Guy, who served in the U.S. Army in Europe during the war.
