The Mobile Police Department’s overnight recap for April 13 includes the arrest of a grandmother accused of leaving her infant granddaughter inside a parked car with the windows rolled up and the ignition off.
Police say 54-year-old Michelle Atwood was arrested after officers responded around 2:30 p.m. to the 1300 block of Duvall Street, where the 2-month-old had been left alone in the vehicle. Atwood told police she remembered roughly 30 to 45 minutes later that the child was still outside. The infant was taken to a hospital and was reported stable and in good condition.
Burglary Arrest on Pinehill Drive
Earlier that night, at about 10:45 p.m., officers responded to a burglary in progress in the 600 block of Pinehill Drive. Responding officers were given a description of the suspect, who was located about a block south and apprehended without further incident. Police identified him as Brandon Bush, 26.
Vehicle Strikes, Pursuit End in Other Incidents
In another case, a woman reported being struck by a vehicle around 4:45 p.m. in the parking lot of a restaurant on Airport Boulevard. She told police she was retrieving belongings from her trunk when the driver pulled away, causing a minor injury to her arm before leaving in a black Nissan Altima.
Police also responded to a menacing complaint on Mango Drive around 4:05 p.m., where a man allegedly pulled a handgun on a repo driver. The driver fled from officers, leading them on a pursuit through the McVay Drive area that ended when he struck two vehicles — including one at an intersection — then hit a fence and escaped on foot. He remained at large as of the report.
