Storm Winds and Waves Hit South Mobile County in 2008

James Bullard, September 1, 2008

Wind and waves flooded low-lying parts of South Mobile County in September 2008, according to a WKRG report.

Highway 193 remained closed to traffic going to Dauphin Island, while Alabama Port residents were allowed through. Officials reported the west end of Dauphin Island had received the most damage, including sand across portions of Bienville Boulevard.

The report also described flooding around Fowl River and continued power outages on Dauphin Island as officials prepared to assess damage and begin cleanup.

This is a historical summary of a 2008 storm-impact report. Current conditions may differ.
