MOBILE, Ala. — After more than two decades of working his way up, Jerrad Douberly now has the top operating job at one of Mobile’s employee-owned companies.

Threaded Fasteners Inc., a fastener distributor and manufacturer headquartered in Mobile, has promoted Douberly to president and chief operating officer, effective Nov. 1. Douberly, who has been chief operating officer since 2023, adds the title of president.

Billy Duren will continue as chief executive officer for the next two years and will remain on the company’s board of directors.

The company said the transition is the result of nearly three years of succession planning and is part of a long-term strategy to keep TFI “scalable, sustainable and perpetual for generations to come.”

A career inside the company

Douberly joined TFI in outside sales in 2002. He advanced through roles as outside sales manager, national business development manager, vice president and senior vice president before being named chief operating officer. He has served on the board since 2019. Before joining the company, he spent five years in fastener sales and management with Fastenal Co. and Steel City Bolt & Screw.

Over that time, TFI grew into a family of companies with 24 locations across 10 states and more than 400 employee-owners. The company is 100% employee-owned.

As president and COO, Douberly will lead day-to-day operations and continue advancing what the company calls its strategic anchors: solution-based services, people development and operational excellence.

“I am honored to serve as president and chief operating officer of Threaded Fasteners and to lead a company where our employee-owners have a direct stake in our future,” Douberly said. “This transition has been years in the making, and I am deeply grateful for Billy Duren’s leadership, guidance and trust throughout that journey. His commitment to our people, our culture and TFI’s long-term success has shaped me as a leader, and I look forward to building on that strong foundation alongside our employee-owners.”

Duren’s next role

Duren has spent more than four decades with TFI. As CEO and a board member, he will focus on strategic growth, leadership development and strengthening the company’s employee-ownership culture.

“One of the greatest responsibilities of leadership is preparing an organization for a future that extends beyond our own time in it,” Duren said. “Jerrad has faithfully served our company for nearly 25 years and has shown a deep commitment to our people, our customers and our culture. Leadership at TFI is not about position or power. It’s about stewardship, and Jerrad understands both the opportunity and the responsibility that come with it. He has my full confidence as he leads us into this next chapter.”

TFI said its mission, “to create value in and for the people we serve,” and its core values of “humble, hungry and aware” remain unchanged.
