If Mobile and Baldwin County High School Football Media Days were any indication, it could be a great season for quarterbacks in South Alabama.
Of the 35 teams that attended Media Days last week, nearly half brought their quarterback as one of two players representing their school. St. Michael’s Gunner Rivers and Saraland’s Jamison Roberts are considered the top names, both returning Back of the Year finalists.
Daphne’s Christian Segar is a South Alabama commit; Baker’s Tate Graham and Fairhope’s Trey Garner are imposing pocket passers; and Cottage Hill’s Shamar Toodle may be the most versatile quarterback in the group.

Sixteen Coastal Alabama quarterbacks represented their schools at Media Days this year: Aaron Ashley (Snook Christian), Davis Barnett (Bayside Academy), Hayden Fincher (St. Paul’s), Max Fowler (UMS-Wright), Trey Garner (Fairhope), Tate Graham (Baker), Cub Jones (Robertsdale), Moose Owens (Elberta), Gunner Rivers (St. Michael, an N.C. State commit following his father Philip Rivers’ path), Jamison Roberts (Saraland, an Oklahoma commit), Joseph Robinson (LeFlore), Christian Segar (Daphne), Andrew Sullivan (Satsuma), Jaylyn Thibodeaux (Spanish Fort), Shamar Toodle (Cottage Hill), and Samuel Van Cleave (Bayshore Christian).
