FAIRHOPE, Ala. — Sailors and families across the Gulf Coast are gearing up for the 15th Annual Children’s Cup Regatta, set for June 6 at the Fairhope Yacht Club. The family-friendly sailing event raises money for Children’s of Alabama and directly benefits young patients from Mobile and Baldwin counties.
A Day of Racing and Community
The event begins with registration from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by a skipper’s meeting at 10:30 a.m. and the start of regatta races at 12:30 p.m. Throughout the day, guests can enjoy live music from Doc Rogers and the Rock Dodgers, a silent auction, and family-friendly activities before dinner begins at 5 p.m. and an awards ceremony wraps up the evening at 7 p.m.
Younger attendees will have plenty to keep them entertained as well. Al’s Activities will feature crafts, games, snacks and a waterslide for kids throughout the day.
Honoring a Young Patient
A highlight of the day is the Katie’s Cup Youth Regatta, a race for young sailors named in honor of Katie Hamlin, a patient of Children’s of Alabama. The youth race celebrates the young sailors taking part while honoring the children and families who have been supported through the broader Children’s Cup Regatta over the years.
Children’s of Alabama has provided specialized pediatric care across the state since 1911. More than 1,800 patients from Mobile and Baldwin counties are treated by the hospital system each year, making the Fairhope-based fundraiser a meaningful source of support for coastal Alabama families.
