MOBILE, Ala. — Four people were hospitalized after a multi-vehicle crash at South University Boulevard and Cottage Hill Road in May 2022, and one of them was arrested after authorities said he punched officers at the scene.
Mobile Fire-Rescue crews were dispatched to the intersection in west Mobile, where officials confirmed four people were taken to the hospital with injuries of unknown severity.
The arrest stemmed from a video that surfaced showing a man yelling at law enforcement before striking officers. Mobile police said the man “refused to comply with officers and became unruly,” and after he began hitting officers, he was subdued with a Taser and taken into custody.
Firefighters asked drivers to avoid the area while crews worked the scene. Police did not immediately say what led to the crash itself or whether additional charges were expected.
