Frisco City family still searching for answers three weeks after grandmother’s brutal killing

Nearly three weeks after 83-year-old Annie Norris was found beaten to death on the carport of her Frisco City home, her family says the not knowing is almost as hard to bear as the loss itself.

Larry Norris, the oldest of her four sons, still stops by the house regularly to check the mail and keep an eye on the property. Crime scene tape remains strung around the home, a stark reminder for neighbors that the case remains unsolved.

“It’s just a shock to lose her, and a shock to really not know what happened, you know,” Larry Norris said. “It’s really been a shock. It’s really been a roller coaster. It’s been a lot of ups and downs. We’re baffled by it, and the authorities possibly are, too.”

What Investigators Have Found

Investigators say Norris was attacked after returning home from a shopping trip. Her purse and groceries were still sitting inside her car when she was found, suggesting the assault happened almost as soon as she arrived home. An autopsy determined she died of blunt force trauma to the head, having been struck three times, with one blow fracturing her skull.

Family members discovered her body on a Thursday, but investigators believe the attack actually happened a day earlier, on Wednesday, meaning Norris may have lain on her carport for close to 24 hours before anyone realized something was wrong.

No motive has been identified, and authorities have not named a suspect or made an arrest.

The investigation is being handled jointly by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the Monroeville Police Department and the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office. Investigators have not released details about persons of interest, physical evidence collected at the scene, or a timeline for when charges might be filed.

The Family’s Search for Answers

For Norris’ family, the wait has been agonizing, but they say their faith is carrying them through it. “But our faith is in the Lord, and He’s going to see us through this, and He’s in control,” Larry Norris said.

The family is asking anyone with information about Norris’ death, including anyone who may have seen activity near her home in the days before her body was found, to come forward.

As the investigation continues, the Norris family says they simply want closure, along with confidence that whoever is responsible for her death will be held accountable.
