MOBILE, Ala. — The Mobile County Animal Shelter is dropping its adoption fee to $40 for every adoptable animal under a sponsorship-backed discount that runs until the sponsored funds run out.
Shelter officials say the timing matters. Warmer weather typically brings an expanding pet population, and more than 30 dogs and cats were waiting for forever homes when the discount was announced.
Adoptions are handled at the shelter’s facility at 7665 Howells Ferry Road in Mobile. Hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The shelter closes on major holidays, including July 4.
Prospective adopters can preview photos of available animals on the shelter’s Facebook page before visiting. Staff encourage families to come meet the animals in person to find a good match.
