A Mobile man sought for allegedly shooting into an occupied vehicle turned himself in less than 24 hours after police featured him in their News Fugitive Files program, according to the Mobile Police Department.
Christopher Williams, known on the street as “Big Rap,” is listed by police as the 691st suspect taken into custody through the program and the 366th to surrender voluntarily.
What Led to the Charge
Police say the case grew out of a dispute between Williams and his cousin over firearms. According to investigators, the cousin refused to return Williams’ guns because Williams had threatened to shoot a man over a stolen dog.
Police spokesperson Charlette Solis said the alleged shooting happened shortly before midnight on Tenth Street. “One night, shortly before midnight, the victim was driving down Tenth Street and Christopher Williams shot at his vehicle,” Solis said. Six bullet holes were found in the vehicle; no one was struck.
Surrender Follows Long Record
Court records cited by police show Williams previously served time in federal prison on drug and gun charges, with additional Mobile County arrests including cocaine possession and trafficking, assault, failure to obey a police officer and receiving stolen property.
