Twenty-five young men from the Mobile area will be formally introduced to society this weekend as the Mobile Chapter of Jack and Jill of America Inc. presents its 39th annual Le Beautillion Militaire Service Program. The program culminates March 31 with the Jack and Jill Le Beautillion Militaire Ball, set for 4 p.m. at the historic Battle House Hotel in downtown Mobile.
Jack and Jill of America is a 79-year-old national service organization founded by mothers dedicated to raising the next generation of African-American leaders while working to enhance the lives of children more broadly. For the Mobile Chapter, Le Beautillion Militaire stands as its premier community service initiative and its largest fund development event of the year.
The program is built around a seven-month commitment for its participants — African-American senior high school males selected to take part in a structured curriculum designed to cultivate scholastic excellence and strong character. Along the way, Mobile Chapter members work to encourage community service among the young men while supporting their growth through activities centered on leadership development, education, cultural awareness and civic engagement, all aimed at preparing them for future careers and the transition into adulthood.
The culminating ball at the Battle House Hotel gives the 25 young men in this year’s class a formal, public introduction, capping months of programming with a milestone celebration attended by family, mentors and the broader Mobile community.
