LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville shot better than 50 percent from the field and dominated the paint on Saturday, beating South Alabama 97-70 as the Cardinals improved to 6-0. The loss dropped the Jaguars to 2-5.
Sophomore Martino Brock led South Alabama with 24 points, seven rebounds and a team-high four assists. Redshirt freshman Augustine Rubit recorded his third double-double of the season with 15 points and 14 rebounds, tying for the game high on the boards, and also blocked two shots.
Louisville’s Shooting
The Cardinals made more than half of their field-goal attempts and connected on better than 51 percent of their three-point tries. Louisville also outscored South Alabama 52-14 in the paint.
South Alabama made 3 of 4 three-point attempts in the first half but went 2 of 12 from beyond the arc after halftime.
Free-Throw Improvement
The Jaguars made 86.2 percent of their free throws, the first time this season South Alabama has shot better than 75 percent from the line in a game.
