MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama football will recognize 14 seniors before Saturday’s regular-season finale against Cal Poly at Ladd-Peebles Stadium, the second Senior Day in program history.
Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. The game is the last of the regular season for both teams.
A Dangerous 5-5 Opponent
Cal Poly enters at 5-5. Two of the Mustangs’ losses came against FBS opponents, and their most recent was a 53-51 triple-overtime loss to Eastern Washington, the defending FCS national champion.
Cal Poly runs a mix of triple-option and spread-option offense. The Mustangs average 257.7 rushing yards per game, seventh in the FCS, and 31.5 points per game.
- Quarterback Andre Broadous has run for 617 yards and 17 touchdowns and has completed 92 of 159 passes for 1,085 yards and eight touchdowns.
- Jake Romanelli has 966 rushing yards and seven touchdowns.
- Mark Rodgers has 468 rushing yards, and Deonte Williams has 357.
- Romanelli, Rodgers and Williams are each averaging more than four yards per carry.
Defensively, Cal Poly allows 415 yards and 32 points per game, including 279.8 passing yards per game.
Jaguar Defense on a Roll
South Alabama has not allowed a touchdown in its last eight quarters. The Jaguars rank 20th in the FCS in scoring defense at 19.6 points per game and are among the top 12 nationally in pass defense, at 168.9 yards per game, and total defense, at 302 yards per game.
Special Teams
Kicker Jordan Means is tied for 19th in the FCS with 1.33 field goals per game and ranks 65th nationally in scoring at 6.44 points per game. Punter Scott Garber ranks 13th in the nation with a 42-yard average and has downed two punts inside the 20 in three of the last four games.

The seniors scheduled to be recognized before Saturday’s game include cornerback Jereme Roberts (No. 2), tight end Paul Bennett (No. 5), wide receiver Lamontis Gardner (No. 7), tight end Kevin Helms (No. 12), cornerback Anton Graphenreed (No. 14), safety Coleman Hornaday (No. 19), kicker Jordan Means (No. 19), wide receiver Donte Rome (No. 26), offensive linemen Chris Brunson (No. 51), Jon Griffin (No. 54), Ryan Norris (No. 64) and Brian Krauskopf (No. 69), and tight end Robby Stoner (No. 85).
The group joins the program’s first senior class, which was honored a year ago, as players who arrived at South Alabama before the football program had played a game.
