Myles Gibbon Tops South Alabama Depth Chart as Jaguars Prepare for Pikeville Opener

Myles Gibbon is listed as South Alabama’s starting quarterback on the Jaguars’ first depth chart of 2010 ahead of Saturday’s opener against Pikeville.

MOBILE, Ala. — Myles Gibbon is listed as South Alabama’s No. 1 quarterback on the first depth chart of the 2010 season, released Monday as the Jaguars began game-week preparations for Saturday’s home opener against Pikeville.

Gibbon moved to the top of the quarterback depth chart after his work in preseason drills and entered the team’s second scrimmage as the first-team quarterback.

Quarterback Order

Brennan Sim is listed third at quarterback. Raymond Cotton does not appear among the three quarterbacks on the depth chart.

Offense

Brian Krauskopf, Chris Brunson and Jon Griffin are listed with the first-team offensive line. Courtney Smith and Brandon Ross are also first-team selections at skill positions.

Ralph Turner is listed as the starter at the Z receiver spot, and Jereme Jones is the starter at the Y receiver position.

Defense

Anthony Taylor and Montavious Williams are listed on the first-team defensive line. Justin Dunn and Charlie Higgenbotham hold the inside linebacker spots at Mike and Will, respectively.

Jerron Mitchell and Jonathan Cameron are the starting cornerbacks, and Ken Barefield is listed at strong safety.

Special Teams

  • Place kicker and kickoffs: Michel Chapuseaux
  • Punter: Scott Garber
  • Punt returner: Jeremy Jones, with T.J. Glover on the second team
  • Kickoff returners: Jeremy Jones and Santuan McGee

Season Opener

South Alabama, coached by Joey Jones, hosts Pikeville on Saturday at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile. The game opens the Jaguars’ second season of football; the program began play in 2009.
