Two Recruits Lost
Justin Sorrell, a junior college defensive back who had signed with South Alabama, has asked for his release because SMU is interested in signing him.
The Jaguars also lost the commitment of Martaze Jackson, who gave a verbal commitment to Tennessee after a recent visit to Knoxville. Jackson is among the recruits pursued by Tennessee’s new coaching staff.
Building the Roster
South Alabama played its first season of football in 2009 under head coach Joey Jones, who is assembling the program’s next recruiting class. Verbal commitments are nonbinding until prospects sign national letters of intent, which high school players may begin doing on National Signing Day.
