MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama released the rosters for Saturday’s Red-Blue Spring Game after completing its final practice before the annual scrimmage.
The Jaguars worked out for about an hour and a half at the on-campus practice facility. Along with preparing for the spring game, coaches showed players drills to focus on between now and the start of fall camp.
Jones on the Spring
“I thought it was a great spring, our guys came to work,” head coach Joey Jones said. “I’m just proud of their leadership, focus and commitment to building this program at South Alabama. They are doing the right things. We’re a much better team now then we were at the beginning of the spring. That’s not just trying to pump them up, they have really gotten better, we didn’t waste any days.”
Red Team
Quarterback Ross Metheny and running back Jay Jones lead the Red backfield. Receivers T.J. Glover, Savarez Smith and Corey Waldon and tight end Wes Saxton are among Metheny’s targets. The offensive line includes Melvin Meggs, Drew Dearman, Matt Calcagnini, James Elliot and Darius McKeller.
On defense, Romelle Jones, Alex Page and Montavious Williams play on the line, with Desmond LaVelle and Maleki Harris at linebacker. Charles Harris, David Hawkins, Alonzo Long and Darrius Morrow are among the players in the secondary.
Blue Team
Brandon Bridge and Trey Fetner are the Blue team’s quarterbacks, with Kendall Houston and Julien Valentin at running back. Jereme Jones and Bryant Lavender lead a receiving group that also includes Cameron Broadnax and Jake Howton. Chris May joins four redshirt freshmen, Daniel Aust, Steven Foster, Clay Machen and Joseph Scelfo, on the offensive line.
Linebackers Clifton Crews, Bryson James and Enrique Williams lead the Blue defense. Terrell Brigham, Qudarius Ford, Tyrell Pearson and Charles Watson are in the secondary, and Jesse Kelley, Pat Moore and Will Thompson are on the defensive line.
