MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama softball assistant coach Mark Ryal has joined the Oklahoma State softball staff in a similar role, it was announced Friday, leaving Jaguars head coach Becky Clark with an opening on her staff this offseason.
One Season in Mobile
Ryal spent one season with the South Alabama program. During that season, the Jaguars made their third consecutive NCAA Regional appearance.
South Alabama finished the 2014 season 42-14 overall and was ranked as high as No. 11 in the NFCA coaches’ poll at midseason. The Jaguars reached the final of the Tuscaloosa Regional, where they lost 3-0 to Alabama, which went on to finish as the national runner-up.
Three South Alabama players earned All-Sun Belt Conference honors this season.
Return to Oklahoma
Ryal, a native of Dewar, Oklahoma, returns to his home state with the move. Dewar is about 115 miles from the Oklahoma State campus in Stillwater.
Staff Opening
Clark will look to fill the assistant coaching position before the Jaguars return to the field next season. South Alabama competes in the Sun Belt Conference.
