USA Today Re-Rank Places South Alabama 110th of 124 FBS Teams, One Spot Ahead of Auburn

A USA Today ranking of all 124 FBS programs places South Alabama 110th, one spot ahead of Auburn.

MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama is No. 110 in a USA Today FBS re-rank of all 124 Football Bowl Subdivision programs published Monday, one position ahead of Auburn.

The list, compiled by USA Today college football writer Paul Myerberg under the title “NCAA football re-rank: Our list from 1-124,” orders every FBS team. South Alabama is playing its first season as a transitional FBS member and its first year of Sun Belt Conference football under head coach Joey Jones.

The Top and Bottom of the List

Alabama is first in the ranking, followed by Oregon, Kansas State, Notre Dame and Georgia.

After South Alabama at No. 110 and Auburn at No. 111, the final 13 spots are filled in order by Florida International, Colorado State, Akron, Tulane, Colorado, Memphis, Florida Atlantic, UAB, New Mexico State, Hawaii, Idaho, Southern Mississippi and Massachusetts, which is No. 124.

Texas-San Antonio, South Alabama’s opponent in its season opener, is No. 106.

Sun Belt Conference Placement

Louisiana-Monroe is the top-ranked Sun Belt team on the list. The conference’s members are placed as follows:

  • No. 43: Louisiana-Monroe
  • No. 52: Western Kentucky
  • No. 65: Arkansas State
  • No. 75: Middle Tennessee
  • No. 76: Louisiana-Lafayette
  • No. 89: Troy
  • No. 95: North Texas
  • No. 110: South Alabama
  • No. 112: Florida International
  • No. 118: Florida Atlantic

Remaining Schedule

South Alabama has five games left. The Jaguars host No. 112 FIU this weekend in Mobile, then travel to No. 95 North Texas. They return to Ladd-Peebles Stadium to face No. 75 Middle Tennessee before road games at No. 76 Louisiana-Lafayette and No. 121 Hawaii to close the regular season.
