MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama volleyball plays its final home matches of the regular season this weekend, hosting Middle Tennessee on Friday and No. 19 Western Kentucky on Sunday.
The Jaguars face the Blue Raiders at 7 p.m. Friday and the Hilltoppers at noon Sunday.
Seniors to Be Honored
South Alabama will recognize its five seniors during the weekend: Katariina Kananen, Olivia Mohler, Elina Strautniece, Valerie Podczasy and Lindsay Schwartz.
Sun Belt Standings
The Jaguars enter the weekend 13-13 overall and 6-5 in the Sun Belt Conference. They are tied with Arkansas State and North Texas for the fourth-best league record, and tiebreakers currently place South Alabama as the No. 6 seed.
Hendrichovsky on the Opponents
Head coach Amy Hendrichovsky said the two opponents present different challenges.
“This weekend we will face two teams with two different systems and strengths,” Hendrichovsky said. “Middle Tennessee is an aggressive and physical team that will run a fast offense and use their speed to earn points. Western Kentucky is a very disciplined team that is playing consistent and error free volleyball. For us to be successful, we will also look to be aggressive and focus on taking care of the ball on our side. I know our team will compete and look for them to play relaxed and enjoy being at home.”
