St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Foley Sets Fall Bazaar and Fish Fry for Nov. 7

St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Foley will host its Fall Bazaar & Fish Fry on Saturday, Nov. 7, with handmade crafts, Christmas ornaments, baked goods, plants, raffles and fried fish plates.

FOLEY, Ala. — St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Foley will open its doors on Saturday, Nov. 7, for its Fall Bazaar & Fish Fry, a morning-to-afternoon community event with handmade crafts, Christmas ornaments, baked goods, plants, raffles and plates of fried fish.

The bazaar runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church, 400 N. Alston St. in Foley. Admission is free.

Fish plates from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The fish fry is a centerpiece of the day. Fried fish plates will be sold from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • Adult plates: $10
  • Children’s plates: $6

Each plate includes fish, three sides, a drink and dessert. Church fish fries are a long-standing tradition across the Gulf Coast, where fresh seafood and community fundraisers go hand in hand. For many families, a plate lunch at a church fundraiser is as much a fall ritual as football on Friday night.

Crafts, ornaments and early Christmas shopping

Beyond the food, visitors can browse a range of items for sale:

  • Handmade crafts
  • Christmas ornaments
  • Baked goods
  • Plants

Raffles will also be held during the event. With the holidays less than two months away, the bazaar offers a chance to pick up handmade gifts and decorations while supporting a local congregation.

Supporting the church’s mission

Proceeds from the bazaar and fish fry support the church’s fundraising and civic benefit efforts. Church bazaars have long served as a way for congregations to raise money for their ministries, outreach programs and community projects, while also giving neighbors a reason to gather.

Many bazaar items are made by church members over weeks or months, and buying them is a way to support both the volunteers who made them and the causes the church supports.

A fall tradition in south Baldwin County

Foley, located in south Baldwin County between the Eastern Shore and the beaches of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, has a busy calendar of community events in the fall. The St. Paul’s bazaar joins a lineup that includes festivals, fundraisers and holiday markets as the season shifts toward Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Downtown Foley’s historic district, near the church’s North Alston Street location, is also home to shops and restaurants, making it easy to pair a visit to the bazaar with a stroll around town.

Tips for visitors

  • Come early for crafts. Handmade items and ornaments often sell quickly, so the best selection is usually available when doors open at 9 a.m.
  • Plan lunch for 11 a.m. or later. Fish plates will not be available until 11 a.m.
  • Bring cash. Many church events prefer cash for food, raffles and craft sales.
  • Bring a bag. Plants, baked goods and crafts are easier to carry with a tote.
