The City of Mobile turned Medal of Honor Park into a giant playground for grown-ups Saturday night, hosting the free, 21-and-older “Inflatable Night: Grown Up Edition” for a crowd that packed the park off Hillcrest Road.
From 7 to 10 p.m., attendees kicked off their shoes and raced through oversized inflatables under the summer sky, filling the park with music, laughter and the kind of throwback fun usually reserved for kids’ birthday parties. DJ Herb Love kept the atmosphere going with music throughout the evening, while a lineup of food trucks gave attendees a chance to grab a bite between runs through the inflatables.
City officials organized the event as an adult-focused twist on the family inflatable nights the city has hosted in the past, giving Mobile residents a low-cost, no-frills way to spend a Saturday night with friends and neighbors. The turnout was heavy, with attendees describing a packed, high-energy scene throughout the three-hour event.
“The City of Mobile really brought the whole city out with this adult inflatable party at Medal of Honor Park,” one attendee said. “It was so packed and fun I need them to run this one back!”
Medal of Honor Park has increasingly served as a gathering spot for city-sponsored community events, and Saturday’s turnout suggests an appetite for more adult-oriented programming alongside Mobile’s traditional slate of family activities. City officials have not yet announced whether the event will return, but the strong showing gives organizers a data point to build on for future planning.
