MOBILE, Ala. — Alabama Power reported at 5 p.m. Wednesday that roughly 3,850 customers were without electricity as a line of storms moved through the Mobile area.
Most of the outages were concentrated in Bay Minette, Prichard, West Mobile and Theodore, the utility said. Crews were positioned to begin restoration work as soon as weather conditions allowed them to do so safely.
Storms Hit Multiple Areas at Once
The scattered outages reflected the broad reach of the storms, which swept across Mobile and Baldwin counties during the afternoon. Downed tree limbs and power lines are a common cause of interruptions during summer thunderstorms in the region, and utilities typically wait until severe weather passes before sending line crews into the field.
Alabama Power encouraged customers who lost service to report their outage and to stay clear of any downed lines, which should always be treated as energized.
