Alabama's Strongest Man Challenge Returns to The Hangout in Gulf Shores

Gulf Shores is set to host one of the state’s most physically demanding competitions this summer.

Alabama’s Strongest Man Challenge will take place at The Hangout, one of the city’s most well-known waterfront venues. The competition is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 15, running from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The competition will feature strength athletes going head-to-head in a series of challenging events testing raw power and endurance. The family-friendly event is open to the public, and attendees are advised to arrive early and bring seating.

Update: Event Details for Alabama’s Strongest Man XIV

This year’s competition is the 14th annual running of the event, billed on the schedule as Alabama’s Strongest Man XIV. Organizers describe it as one of the highest-energy strength events in the state, with men, women and teams all competing for titles.

The Events

The slate includes the axle clean and press, a max frame deadlift, sandbag toss, and carry obstacles — a mix of overhead pressing, maximal pulling and loaded-carry medleys that is standard across sanctioned strongman competition.

Who Can Compete

Contestants must be members of United States Strongman (USS) to enter Alabama’s Strongest Man XIV.

Schedule

Weigh-ins run from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m., with competition from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Hangout in Gulf Shores.
