Christian Service Center Opens Children’s Christmas Cheer Registration for Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Fort Morgan Families
The Christian Service Center’s Children’s Christmas Cheer program is open for registration, offering toys and gifts to children from newborns through high school age in Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and Fort Morgan.
GULF SHORES, Ala. — The Christian Service Center has launched its annual Children’s Christmas Cheer program, opening registration for families who need help providing toys and gifts this holiday season and calling on the community to help fill the need.
The program serves families living in Gulf Shores, Orange Beach or Fort Morgan and is coordinated by the center’s Christmas Cheer Team of Becky Watson, Jill Post and Betty Oliver. It depends on donations from Angel Gift donors and the work of volunteers, including business partners, church members and civic groups.
Who qualifies
Families living in Gulf Shores, Orange Beach or Fort Morgan who need help providing Christmas toys for their children or custodial grandchildren are eligible. The program serves children from newborns through high school age.
When and where to register
Families must register in person at the Christian Service Center, 317 Dolphin Ave. in Gulf Shores. Registration runs from 1 to 3 p.m. on the following dates:
- Nov. 3, 4 and 5
- Nov. 10, 11 and 12
- Nov. 17, 18 and 19
- Nov. 24
- Dec. 1, 2 and 3
- Dec. 8, 9 and 10
Families can also sign up for a Christmas dinner box during their intake appointment.
Toy distribution
Toys will be handed out Dec. 14-16 at the Toyland warehouse, located at The Island Church.
How the community can help
The easiest way to take part is by choosing an Angel tag. Tags are available at the Christian Service Center and through participating local businesses, churches and schools, and each one connects a donor with a child who could use extra holiday cheer.
The center also encourages people to donate or volunteer.
A second way to give this year
Another local effort will help support the same cause. The Gulf Shores Junior City Council’s inaugural Christmas Tree Tinsel Trail at Sims Park is seeking $100 sponsors for decorated trees, with proceeds going to the Angel Tree Program through the Christian Service Center. Junior City Council students will use the money to buy gifts for local children. The registration deadline for tree sponsors is Nov. 19, and the trail opens to the public Nov. 30.
