MOBILE, Ala. — A judge has sentenced a Mobile woman to time served for killing her husband in 2023.

Ladina Benjamin admitted to shooting and killing Darrin Benjamin at their home on Felhorn Road East over Labor Day weekend in 2023.

Judge Brandy Hambright imposed a 15-year sentence, then suspended all but the time Benjamin had already spent in jail. Benjamin was also ordered to serve three years of probation and to continue mental health treatment.

Under a split or suspended sentence, a defendant generally remains subject to the court’s conditions during probation, and a violation can bring the suspended time back into play.
