MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. — A jury has found a Grand Bay man guilty on several charges involving the sexual abuse of a child, according to the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office.

Franklin Lanier, 42, was convicted of first-degree sodomy, first-degree sexual abuse and sexual abuse of a child less than 12. Prosecutors said evidence at trial showed Lanier abused the victim from the time the victim was 8 until the victim was 16.

“We thank the jury for their time and careful consideration of this case,” District Attorney Keith Blackwood said. “Hearing the details of sexual abuse against a child is difficult and heartbreaking. We are grateful to these jurors for listening carefully to the evidence and fulfilling their responsibility in a case involving years of abuse.”

Lanier is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 14, 2027. He faces life in prison.
