JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. — Two 18-year-olds are facing charges in Mississippi after a chase along Interstate 10 connected to a carjacking in Mobile, authorities said.

Drivers saw a heavy law enforcement presence on I-10 near Highway 57 as officers searched for the suspects.

According to a Jackson County Sheriff’s Department news release, deputies received information about a vehicle involved in a Mobile carjacking heading west on I-10. Authorities said Mobile County deputies pursued the vehicle into Mississippi. A Jackson County deputy later spotted it and got behind it, and deputies said they tried to pull it over near Highway 57, but the driver kept going.

Found by K-9s

The vehicle eventually stopped near mile marker 54 or 55, authorities said, and the two suspects ran into the woods north of the westbound lanes. Law enforcement K-9s found them shortly afterward, and they were taken to the Jackson County Adult Detention Center.

The charges

Ayden Crawford, 18, of Mobile, is charged with resisting arrest. Darrin Jordan, 18, of Gulfport, is charged with possession of a stolen firearm, felony pursuit, receiving stolen property and resisting arrest.

The charges are allegations, and both are presumed innocent unless proven guilty. The release did not provide details about the carjacking itself, such as where it happened in Mobile or whether anyone was hurt.
