The Mobile City Council is poised to vote on appointing Lana Pafenbach as the city’s next clerk, replacing Lisa Lambert, who recently concluded a three-decade tenure with the municipality.
Under the council’s proposed resolution, Pafenbach would officially assume the position on Dec. 26, 2026. She currently serves as assistant city clerk and brings experience across multiple city departments, including work as a recording supervisor. Pafenbach holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Faulkner University.
In her current role, Pafenbach assists with preparing City Council agendas, coordinates matters requiring council approval, conducts bid openings and assists with municipal elections. According to a 2025 professional profile, she has expressed interest in modernizing the clerk’s office by expanding digital records and improving public access to city documents.
The city clerk’s office plays a central role in municipal government, maintaining official council records, meeting minutes and other documentation that the public and city departments rely on. Lambert concluded her service after 32 years with the city of Mobile, having overseen those responsibilities throughout her tenure.
