Mobile police are investigating a fatal shooting that left one man dead on McVay Drive, according to Mobile Police Chief William Jackson.
Officers responded to the scene in the 2000 block of McVay Drive, where they found a male victim who was pronounced deceased, Jackson confirmed. The shooting prompted a heavy law enforcement presence in the area and disrupted traffic for drivers passing through that stretch of McVay Drive while investigators worked the scene.
Mobile police have not yet released the identity of the victim or details about a possible suspect or motive. Investigators remained on scene gathering evidence in the aftermath of the shooting.
McVay Drive is a busy corridor on Mobile’s west side, and shootings in the area tend to draw significant attention from residents and businesses nearby. This is an ongoing investigation, and Mobile police have indicated more information will be released as it becomes available.
Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to contact the Mobile Police Department. This story will be updated as new details emerge from investigators.
