Mobile Police are asking for the public’s help identifying two men accused of shooting a teenager during an armed robbery over the weekend in the city’s midtown area.
Officers responded to the 2600 block of Farnell Drive around 10:20 p.m. Saturday after receiving a report of a person shot. When they arrived, they found a 17-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound to his right thigh.
According to investigators, the teen said two men approached him, pulled out a handgun and demanded he hand over his wallet. After the teen was shot, the suspects fled the scene with his billfold, driving away in a black Jeep Liberty.
The victim was transported to USA Medical Center, where he was treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
No arrests have been announced in connection with the shooting, and the two suspects remain at large. Investigators have not released detailed descriptions of the men beyond their getaway vehicle, a black Jeep Liberty, which was last seen leaving the Farnell Drive area following the robbery.
Armed robberies involving firearms remain a persistent concern in Mobile neighborhoods, and police routinely urge residents to remain vigilant, avoid confrontations with armed suspects, and report suspicious vehicles or activity as quickly as possible. Investigators say prompt tips from neighbors and witnesses are often the difference in identifying suspects who flee before officers arrive.
Mobile Police continue to investigate the shooting and are asking anyone with information about the identities of the two suspects, or the whereabouts of the black Jeep Liberty involved, to come forward. Tips can be submitted to Mobile Police or through Crimestoppers, and callers may remain anonymous.
