Orange Beach Marked Its 25th Anniversary in 2009

James Bullard, August 28, 2009

Orange Beach marked its 25th anniversary in August 2009 with a community celebration and a look back at the city’s transformation.

City leaders reflected on adversity including hurricanes, recessions, financial challenges and political turmoil. They said the community had continued to rebuild and grow after those setbacks.

From fishing community to destination

The report described the area as a quiet fishing and farming community in the early 20th century before it developed into a major Gulf Coast vacation destination. Historical displays were planned as part of the anniversary celebration.

A birthday block party was scheduled at City Hall with food, entertainment and children’s activities. This account records the 2009 anniversary observance and should not be read as current event information.
