Saraland’s Jamison Roberts Among 9 Gulf Coast Players Named to Alabama All-Star Team

Saraland quarterback Jamison Roberts joins Thompson's Trent Seaborn under center for the Alabama All-Stars, with Vigor, Williamson, Gulf Shores, McGill-Toolen and Mary G. Montgomery players also selected for the Dec. 12 game in Mobile.

MOBILE, Ala. — The Alabama All-Stars roster for this year’s Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic has a strong Gulf Coast flavor. Saraland quarterback Jamison Roberts, an Oklahoma commitment, will share quarterback duties with Thompson’s Trent Seaborn, an Alabama commitment, and eight more players from Mobile and Baldwin County schools were named to the 42-man roster.

The annual game against the Mississippi All-Stars is set for Saturday, Dec. 12, at Hancock Whitney Stadium on the University of South Alabama campus, giving local fans a chance to see many of the state’s top seniors close to home.

Two SEC-bound quarterbacks

Seaborn arrives with a résumé few high school passers can match. He became Alabama’s all-time leading passer earlier this season and is the reigning Class 7A Back of the Year. Through seven games in 2026, he has completed 78 percent of his passes for 2,014 yards and 24 touchdowns without an interception.

Roberts has been nearly as efficient for Saraland. The senior has completed 77 percent of his throws for 1,702 yards and 20 touchdowns, with just one interception, and has run for 240 yards and four more scores. He has been especially sharp in recent weeks, going 16 of 18 for 269 yards in a September rout of Pell City and 12 of 14 for 191 yards and two touchdowns in an Oct. 8 shutout win.

Helena coach Richie Busby, who will lead the Alabama team, said the quarterbacks give his offense plenty of options.

“Offensively, we have explosive guys in the skill positions with QBs that can get playmakers the ball,” Busby said.

Local players on the Alabama roster

Mobile County and Baldwin County schools placed nine players on the team, with Vigor and Williamson, who met in a Class 4A showdown Thursday night, each contributing two:

  • Jamison Roberts, QB, Saraland (Oklahoma commitment)
  • Kamron Smith, RB, Mary G. Montgomery
  • Carter Davis, WR, Gulf Shores (West Virginia commitment)
  • Avrian “AJ” Pauley, DL, McGill-Toolen (Alabama commitment)
  • Jabarrius Garror, EDGE, Vigor (Texas commitment)
  • Isaac McNeil, ILB, Vigor (Auburn commitment)
  • Ellis McGaskin, ILB, Williamson (Florida commitment)
  • Jaylen Scott, DB, Williamson (Oklahoma commitment)
  • Elijah Malone, DB, Gulf Shores

Smith has been one of the area’s most productive running backs this fall. He ran 34 times for 193 yards and three touchdowns Friday night as Mary G. Montgomery edged sixth-ranked Daphne 20-19. Davis, a West Virginia commitment, has been a key piece of a Gulf Shores offense that opened the season with a long unbeaten run; he caught two touchdown passes and ran for another score in a 5-0 start to region play.

Garror and McNeil anchored the Vigor defense that shut out top-ranked Williamson 12-0 on Thursday at Ladd-Peebles Stadium, holding the Lions to roughly 40 total yards. McGaskin and Scott are part of a Williamson defense that had allowed just 25 points in six games before that loss.

Gulf Coast coaches on the staff

Two area head coaches will help run the Alabama sideline. St. Michael coach Philip Rivers, the former NFL quarterback who now leads the Cardinals in Fairhope, will serve as offensive coordinator. Alma Bryant coach Bart Sessions will coordinate the defense.

Rivers will be coaching some of the state’s best seniors just weeks after his son, St. Michael quarterback Gunner Rivers, returned from a knee injury. Gunner Rivers threw four touchdown passes Friday in a 48-27 win at Glenwood.

Busby said the selection committee assembled a talented group. “I would like to thank the selection committee for their time and efforts selecting another quality team to represent the AHSAA and the state of Alabama,” he said. “The roster is loaded with future college stars and quality young men.”

A defense full of power-conference commitments

The Alabama defense may be the strength of the team. Beyond the local players, it includes Ramsay defensive lineman Karlos May (Ohio State), Thompson defensive lineman Cameron Pritchett (Oregon) and Spain Park defensive lineman MJ Evans (Auburn).

“The roster is very versatile with guys having the ability to play multiple positions,” Busby said.

On offense, other headliners include James Clemens running back MJ Gideon (Vanderbilt) and Prattville wide receiver Deshawn Hall (Auburn).

J.T. Lawrence, director of the Alabama High School Athletic Directors and Coaches Association, said the selection process is extensive. “Our selection committee spends countless hours evaluating film, communicating with coaches across the state, and carefully considering each nominee,” Lawrence said. “Their dedication helps ensure that the players selected represent the very best of Alabama high school football.”

Alabama’s winning streak in the series

Alabama has dominated the series in recent years. The Alabama All-Stars won last year’s game 40-10 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, for their sixth straight victory, and they lead the all-time series 28-11.
