The Orange Beach Performing Arts Center will turn back the clock later this month when the Expect Excellence Music Department brings its classic rock tribute show, “Dream On Vol. 4,” to the stage for three performances August 27-29.
The production features musicians and singers from throughout the area performing a high-energy salute to classic rock favorites spanning the 1970s through the 1990s, built around a 20-song set list of rock radio staples. Organizers say the show is designed to appeal both to longtime fans who remember the songs from their original releases and to newer listeners discovering the era’s music for the first time.
All three performances are scheduled for 7 p.m., with doors opening one hour before showtime. The 23-member cast includes dancers, vocalists and instrumentalists who have been rehearsing since early June to bring the tribute to life on stage.
“We had some extremely talented folks come out for auditions,” said Expect Excellence Music Manager Caleb Pittman. “This was honestly one of the easiest years, when it came to casting. Everyone fits their parts so well. I can’t wait to see this cast hit the stage.”
Pittman said the cast has fully embraced the spirit of the material for this year’s production. “[The cast] has really leaned into the rock n’ roll mindset,” he said. While acknowledging it’s nearly impossible to “recreate the true essence of rock icons Prince, Michael Jackson, or Steve Perry,” Pittman said the goal is to capture the nostalgia of the songs through faithful performances of the era’s most iconic melodies, with each singer bringing a personal touch to the material.
“Not only will you experience incredible music performed by incredible artists, but you will get to participate in all the fun,” Pittman said.
Orange Beach Performing Arts Center Manager Stacie Brane echoed that sentiment, noting the emotional pull classic rock still holds for audiences. “Classic rock holds such a special place in so many people’s hearts,” Brane said. “It’s great to see how much happiness and excitement ‘Dream On’ brings to the audience members. It’s an experience you don’t want to miss out on.”
Brane encouraged fans not to wait too long to buy tickets, particularly if they have a preference for a specific performance date. All tickets are general admission and are on sale now for $15, plus processing fees, and must be purchased by credit card either online or at the Performing Arts Center box office.
The Orange Beach Performing Arts Center is located at 23908 Canal Road, on the eastern portion of the Orange Beach Middle/High School campus. The box office is open weekdays from 3:30 to 6 p.m. and can be reached at 251-943-0043.

According to the news release announcing the show, “Dream On Vol. 4” will include renditions of several particularly well-known rock radio staples, among them “Juke Box Hero,” “Purple Rain” and “Bohemian Rhapsody,” offering a preview of some of the specific hits included in the production’s 20-song lineup.
The release also notes that additional ticket information is available on the City of Orange Beach’s website, supplementing the box office details already provided.
