Orange Beach’s Edward H. Carroll Sr. Kids Park to Reopen Tuesday as Shade Sail Work Continues

The Edward H. Carroll Sr. Kids Park Playground in Orange Beach is set to reopen Tuesday, Aug. 18, as crews wrap up the current phase of site improvements aimed at making the popular playground more comfortable for visitors.
City officials announced the reopening date as construction milestones for the project were reached. Support poles for new shade sails at the park are nearing completion, though it will be a few more weeks before crews install the shade covers themselves, which are intended to give families relief from the summer sun.
Officials said the park will need to close again briefly once the shade sails are ready to be installed. “We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause,” officials said, adding that guest safety remains the top priority throughout construction. Community leaders said they are eager to see the upgrades completed. “We look forward to getting the much-needed shade sails in place as soon as possible,” officials said. Further updates on the timing of the next temporary closure will be shared once crews finalize installation dates.
