MOBILE, Ala. — Severe thunderstorms pushing through the Gulf Coast knocked out power to thousands of customers across Alabama, Mississippi and Florida on Thursday, according to utility reports.
Alabama Power reported more than 7,000 outages across its area, with about 3,200 in Mobile. Baldwin EMC and Riviera Utilities reported roughly 1,700 and 940 customers without power in Baldwin County, respectively. In south Mississippi, Singing River Electric tracked outages in George, Greene and Jackson counties, while Gulf Power reported a few hundred customers dark in the Florida Panhandle.
Crews worked to restore service as the storms moved through the region.
