A propane explosion sparked a large fire at a home in Stapleton on Sunday, damaging property but causing no injuries to residents. The fire broke out around noon at a home on Bromley Road near the intersection of Highway 31.
Stapleton Fire Chief Richard Burt said fire crews from Spanish Fort, Whitehouse Fork, Loxley and Silverhill responded to assist local firefighters at the scene. Burt said either a small fire on the property or a lightning strike ignited propane tanks, sparking a brush fire and causing damage to three buildings on the property.
Firefighters were able to get the flames under control and save the home’s main structure. No residents were injured in the incident, though two firefighters were treated at the scene for overheating before being released.
