MOBILE, Ala. — QV Distribution Holdings, Inc., known as Quality Valve, has announced a leadership transition intended to position the business for continued growth.
Effective immediately, the board has appointed Benjamin Davis as Chief Executive Officer. Davis assumes the responsibilities of outgoing CEO Jody Dunn, who will remain with the company as Senior Advisor and a member of the Board of Directors.
Dunn will remain actively involved in the company’s mergers and acquisitions strategy, key stakeholder relationships and corporate strategy.
Quality Valve is a portfolio company of The Stephens Group, LLC.
Dunn’s Tenure
Dunn has served as CEO of Quality Valve since 2022, previously serving as the company’s President and, before that, as Chief Financial Officer.
During his time as CEO, Dunn helped build an executive team, sharpened the company’s commercial focus and positioned Quality Valve for its next phase of growth.
“Stephens Group is grateful for Jody’s leadership over the past four years and throughout his career with Quality Valve, and we are glad he will remain closely involved as Senior Advisor and a member of the Board,” said Grant Jones, Managing Director at Stephens Group.
“It has been a privilege to lead Quality Valve and to help build on the foundation we established together,” Dunn said. “I’m proud of what our team has accomplished, and I look forward to continuing to support Ben and the entire team as we build on that momentum.”
The structure of this transition — an outgoing CEO moving to senior advisor and a board seat while retaining the M&A portfolio — is a recognizable pattern in private-equity-backed companies. Acquisition strategy depends heavily on relationships with owners of target businesses, and those relationships belong to individuals rather than to org charts. Keeping the executive who built them involved preserves a pipeline that a new CEO would otherwise need years to rebuild.
The Incoming CEO
Davis brings close to 20 years of leadership experience in sales, business development and supply chain operations to the role.
Most recently he served as Vice President of Manufactured Product sales at Vytl Controls Group, where he set the strategy for commercial operations supporting the organization’s manufactured products, including leading the outside and inside sales teams and managing a broad distribution network.
“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Ben as CEO of Quality Valve,” Jones said. “Ben brings a rare combination of commercial leadership and deep operating experience across the valve and industrial distribution markets. He understands what it takes to serve customers with speed and precision, and we’re confident he’s the right leader to take Quality Valve into its next chapter.”
Why Speed and Precision Matter in This Business
Jones’s reference to serving customers with speed and precision is not generic language in industrial valve distribution.
Valves are critical components in refining, chemical processing, power generation, marine and pipeline operations — sectors heavily represented along the central Gulf Coast. When a valve fails or a scheduled turnaround requires replacement, the cost of downtime at a processing facility is measured in hours, not days. A distributor’s value proposition rests substantially on inventory depth and the ability to get the correct part to a site quickly.
That is also why leadership with distribution network experience, rather than purely manufacturing experience, is a relevant qualification for the role.
Mobile’s Industrial Sector
Quality Valve is headquartered in Mobile, in a region whose industrial base includes chemical plants, refining and petrochemical operations, shipbuilding, paper production and port activity — the customer categories that industrial valve distribution serves.
The appointment is effective immediately.
