MONTGOMERY, Ala. — South Alabama baseball trailed Alabama State 3-0 through six innings before scoring six runs over the final three to beat the Hornets 6-3 in a midweek road game.
The comeback improved the Jaguars to 5-3 on the season. Alabama State fell to 3-4.
Late Rally
South Alabama put runners in scoring position several times in the early innings but was unable to bring them home, and Alabama State built a three-run lead through the first six innings.
The Jaguars then scored all six of their runs over the seventh, eighth and ninth innings to take the lead and close out the win.
Escaping a Jam
Alabama State threatened to extend its lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. South Alabama pitching ended the threat with a strikeout, a flyout to center field and another strikeout, keeping the deficit at three runs heading into the Jaguars’ rally.

South Alabama returns home to Eddie Stanky Field this weekend to host Brown in a four-game series. The opener is set for Friday at 6:30 p.m.
The Jaguars compete in the Sun Belt Conference and are in the early weeks of their nonconference schedule.
