MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama senior guard Freddie Goldstein has been cleared to play in the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament, giving the Jaguars a returning starter as they open the event Wednesday at Tulane.
Team doctors cleared Goldstein on Monday, and he returned to practice with the team that day.
Back After Seven Weeks
Goldstein broke his collarbone on Jan. 24 against Western Kentucky at the Mitchell Center. The injury initially appeared to have ended his senior season, and he missed seven weeks.
Before the injury, Goldstein had started 17 of the 18 games he played, averaging 8.1 points and 2.3 rebounds per game with 45 assists.
Playing Time Uncertain
Interim head coach Jeff Price welcomed Goldstein’s return. It was not known how much Goldstein would play against Tulane after only one practice back with the team, though additional practice time could lead to a larger role if the Jaguars advance.
First-Round Game in New Orleans
South Alabama and Tulane are scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m. Wednesday in New Orleans in the first round of the tournament.
