Augustine Rubit Honored Before South Alabama Routs Spring Hill 91-41

Augustine Rubit, honored before the game as South Alabama's career rebounding leader, scored 18 points as the Jaguars beat Spring Hill 91-41 to improve to 5-3.

MOBILE, Ala. — Augustine Rubit was recognized before tipoff for becoming South Alabama’s career rebounding leader, then scored 18 points as the Jaguars beat crosstown NAIA opponent Spring Hill College 91-41 Monday night at the Mitchell Center.

The win improved South Alabama to 5-3 on the season. Spring Hill fell to 0-6.

Rubit Recognized for Rebounding Record

South Alabama honored Rubit in a pregame ceremony after he set the school’s all-time rebounding record in a recent game. The senior forward added 18 points and nine rebounds in 19 minutes against the Badgers.

His rebounds Monday moved him into second place on the Sun Belt Conference’s career rebounding list.

Balanced Scoring

Ken Williams scored 13 points and grabbed three rebounds. Dionte Ferguson added nine points and five rebounds.

Williams, a freshman, and Ferguson, a junior, have been regular contributors for a roster that includes several first-year players.

All but one South Alabama player scored at least two points as head coach Matthew Graves used his full roster in the 50-point win.

Crosstown Matchup

Spring Hill, a Jesuit college located a few miles from the South Alabama campus in Mobile, competes in the NAIA. The game was one of several matchups on the Jaguars’ schedule against smaller in-state and regional programs at the Mitchell Center this season.

South Alabama is in its first season under Graves, who was hired from Butler, where he served as an assistant coach.

South Alabama travels to Houston to face Rice on Saturday, Dec. 7. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m.
